In a major development regarding Odisha’s flagship women welfare scheme, Subhadra Yojana, the third instalment of financial assistance will be disbursed on April 22, announced Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Monday. This comes with a renewed focus on transparency and inclusion, following concerns over exclusion during the second phase.

🔍 Household-Level Survey for Eligibility Verification

The Odisha government has decided to conduct a comprehensive home-to-home survey, starting after April 14, to verify the eligibility of applicants and understand why nearly 1 lakh beneficiaries were excluded from receiving the second instalment.

“We will reach every home to ensure transparency and correctness,” said Deputy CM Pravati Parida.

The government will also review the rejection list to identify potentially eligible individuals who may have been wrongly excluded. Only those who clear the verification will receive the third instalment.

📆 Disbursal Timeline & Beneficiaries

  • Third Instalment: To be credited to verified eligible beneficiaries on April 22.
  • First Instalment for New Applicants: Those recently approved will receive the first instalment on April 22 and 23.
  • No Fresh Applications: The Deputy CM confirmed that no new applications will be accepted moving forward.

📋 Why the Review is Important?

The Subhadra Yojana, which aims to empower women and girls across Odisha through direct financial assistance, has seen an overwhelming response. However, in the second phase, a large number of previously included beneficiaries were excluded, raising public concerns and political debate.

To correct these discrepancies:

  • A re-verification of those who received the first but missed the second instalment will be carried out.
  • Community-level meetings will be organized to analyze exclusion trends and reasons behind rejections.

This initiative is part of the government’s effort to make welfare schemes more inclusive, data-driven, and transparent.

👩‍👧 Future Inclusion for Girls Turning 21

Deputy CM Parida also revealed that eligible girls turning 21 in the future may be re-included under the scheme for upcoming benefits. This long-term view aims to strengthen the support system for women’s financial empowerment across various life stages.
