India Successfully Tests MRSAM from Odisha Coast: A Big Boost to Air Defence Readiness

MRSAM: In a major milestone for India’s defence preparedness, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Army jointly conducted four successful flight tests of the Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) system on April 3 and 4, 2025. The tests were carried out at the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island, located off the coast of Odisha, a vital testbed for strategic missile trials.


🎯 Objective of the Tests

The main purpose of the trials was to validate the performance and precision of the MRSAM weapon system in operational conditions against a wide spectrum of aerial threats.

The system was tested in four different scenarios:

  • Long-range interception
  • Short-range engagement
  • High-altitude targets
  • Low-altitude attacks

In all four tests, the MRSAM successfully intercepted and destroyed high-speed aerial targets, confirming its combat readiness and versatility in air defence operations.
