Satyendranath Tagore succeeded in the Civil Services Examination in the year 1863 and became an IAS officer. Satyendranath Tagore was the elder brother of Rabindranath Tagore and was officially the first IAS officer of India.

Satyendranath Tagore prepared by staying in England

Satyendranath Tagore left for England in the year 1862 to prepare for the Civil Service Examination and after preparing for just one year, he was selected for the Civil Service in 1863. After this, he completed his training in England for a year and returned to India in the year 1864. After returning to India, Satyendranath Tagore was posted in the Bombay Presidency and after a few months his posting was made in the city of Ahmedabad.

Satyendranath Tagore was born on 1 June 1842 in Kolkata and when he became an IAS officer, he was just 21 years old. He did his schooling from Hindu School in Kolkata. He was one of the first students to appear for the Calcutta University exam in the year 1857.
